For those who don’t know it yet, Gerbv is an excellent open-source Gerber viewer.
This software is native to Linux (that’s where I first encountered it!) but is also available for Windows.
But what can I view with Gerbv?
With this program, you can easily view Gerber files in RS-274X format, Excellon drill files, and CSV files (for pick and place).
Its use is very simple:
- Import the PCB layers through File -> Open layer(s).
- Select the Gerber files using the control key on the keyboard and click Open.
After importing the Gerber files, Gerbv can be used like CAM 350; Indeed, you can select or deselect layers as desired or change the color of various layers to optimize file printing.
You can also choose the rendering (click on View -> rendering) for screen display (to optimize the PC’s graphics memory).
You can export Gerber files to PDF or image format (PNG).
Gerbv is a small but extremely useful program to always have at hand.
