<\/p>\nIn this third tutorial, we will explain how to generate electronic documentation for your electronic device in a way that is clear and easy to follow through all its phases.<\/p>\n

The software allows you to quickly create assembly drawing sheets for each phase of your electronic device’s assembly process. Each assembly phase is automatically and uniquely assigned representative numbers for the “processing order, for example: Phase 1 \u2018SMT assembly\u2019 and Phase 2 \u2018manual assembly\u2019. Each component list code is assigned a specific color to make it distinguishable from others, and in situations with high code variability, there’s the option to add texture to the color. This significantly increases the number of combinations, enabling the handling of even the most complex projects.
\nIn each section, you’ll have the freedom to add assembly or processing notes with images, making the learning of the work to be performed much more intuitive”. Once all phases are completed and enriched, you can generate the documentation PDF file. <\/p>\n

Opening the SAMPLE file, which is available in the free software package you downloaded in Tutorial 1, you’ll see electronic documentation of an electronic assembly. In the center, you can see the board under examination with its components already subdivided and paired by code, each with a representative color. <\/p>\n

To reach this particular situation, you must first have loaded the BOM with all necessary data (which we’ve already seen in previous tutorials). Subsequently, to insert notes or images, simply use the Annotation Tool (yellow post-it with pencil symbol) to add whatever you want to the circuit board, whether images or simply text. After inserting a note, by selecting it and going to its properties, you can activate the Call Out function, which allows you to insert an arrow pointing to the component the note refers to, and through Printer Settings, you can increase the visibility of text characters, pointing line, and modify colors. Once notes are inserted, you can group components based on your preferences, based on operations they will undergo, or by code. The method of marking components through color or texture can be easily chosen using the Draw All button, which you see in Figure 3.1 to the right of the BOM column. Next to it is also the Undraw all button, which performs the opposite function. <\/p>\n

Figure 3.2 shows the window that opens when we click the DRAW ALL button. In the first part, there’s the option to assign a unique color to all components with the same code or part number (p\/n). Additionally, you can choose how to handle codes that have a single piece on the board, either by giving them a unique color or giving them a color by p\/n. In the second part, you can decide how to manage components without a part number. <\/p>\n
To insert work phases and operation descriptions, if you haven’t inserted them through BOM, there are two other methods. The first, longer and more laborious, consists of selecting the individual code on the BOM (double click on it), and automatically the window visible in Figure 3.3 will open where you can insert the phase number and operation to be performed. The second, slightly faster, consists of preparing an appropriately tabulated text file with all component codes to which we want to add an operation. Through the Edit button on the operations bar, then select BOM and Import Operation to insert them all in a single step. In any case, I recommend always inserting them via BOM.
\nIn fact, once you’ve inserted a BOM rich with information starting from component costs (seen in the previous tutorial) and subsequently after inserting notes, operations, phases, and appropriately coloring the components\/codes, your documentation will be ready. <\/p>\n

In addition to the capabilities described so far, the software also allows you to generate your labels simply and quickly, but with a huge advantage. Indeed, by generating both technical documentation and labels with the same software, you’ll have a single way of representing each component, thus reducing the number of possible component recognition errors.<\/p>\n

Below the previously presented Draw All button, you have the ability to generate and print your electronic documentation and your labels. By pressing the Print Assembly Docs button, you’ll have the option to print either the documentation or labels or both in various possible formats (one page per operation or per operation phase, etc.).
\nIn each operation, you can choose which information to include, and additionally, you can select other items from the BOM to make everything as clear and immediate as possible.<\/p>\n

Returning to Figure 3.2, to the right of the component coloring buttons section, there is a section dedicated to visualization. On the left side, we have the BOM divided by part number, while in this right section we have the list of components ordered according to their name on the board. When a component is selected, using the Blink buttons we can highlight its pins to immediately find it on the board or highlight all the same components with the same part number. A similar solution can be obtained using the find button (binoculars icon) on the toolbar. In this case, we’ll write the name or code of the component to find and then highlight it using the same Blink button.
